Confimi Albania successfully organized the first national workshop of the AwesomePlus Project, a key initiative under the IPA South Adriatic Programme 2021-2027, held in Tirana on May 7, 2025. This cross-border project brings together partners from Albania, Italy, and Montenegro, aiming to foster collaboration and innovation in the field of sustainable development and circular economy.
The central theme of the workshop was the reuse of agricultural waste—a promising resource that can be transformed into valuable materials for civil engineering, infrastructure, and other industrial applications. The discussion focused on identifying practical and scalable ways to utilize agricultural by-products as an alternative to traditional raw materials, contributing to environmental protection and economic efficiency.
During the event, participants explored the current state of waste management in Albania, highlighting both challenges and opportunities. A significant contribution came from representatives of Albania’s leading recycling company, who presented concrete examples of how waste can be turned into resources, showcasing successful models already implemented in the country.
The workshop also served as a platform for knowledge exchange and networking between public institutions, private sector actors, and civil society organizations involved in environmental innovation and circular economy practices.
This first workshop marks a strong start for AwesomePlus, setting the stage for further activities across the three participating countries, with a shared vision of reducing waste, enhancing sustainability, and building greener economies in the South Adriatic region.
